Converting a Quote to a Job

Once a quote is accepted (or you've approved it), turn it into a job with one click.

How to convert

  1. Open the quote
  2. Click Convert to Job (available unless the quote is Declined or Expired)

HandyBook then:

  • Creates a job with status Scheduled
  • Copies the quote's materials onto the job
  • Marks the quote Approved and links it to the new job

You'll see a confirmation toast noting how many materials were copied, and the job and quote are now cross-linked.

If the job already exists

If you built the quote from an existing job (a common flow — create a lead, then quote it), the quote is linked back to that job rather than creating a duplicate.

Reviewing the new job

After converting, open the job to:

  • Confirm or adjust the schedule on the calendar
  • Assign a team member
  • Add any time, materials, or photos as work proceeds

From job to invoice

When the work's done, create the invoice from the job — it pulls the quote's line items and any tracked billable hours. See the Invoices help.

FAQ

Where's the Convert button? On the quote's detail page header.

What gets copied? The quote's materials are copied to the job; the quote is linked so the invoice can pull line items later.

What status does the new job get? Scheduled.

Can I convert a quote the customer accepted verbally? Yes — mark it Approved first (or just use Convert to Job, which sets it to Approved).
