Creating a Quote
A quote (estimate) tells a customer what a job will cost before you do the work. A signed quote can be converted into a job.
How to create a quote
- Go to Quotes in the sidebar
- Click New Quote
- Fill in the form
- Click Create Quote
What's on the New Quote form
Quote Details
- Customer — pick from your customers
- Job Name (required) — what the quote is for, e.g. "Bathroom remodel"
- Category — optional; filters which templates are available
- Template — pre-fill line items from a saved template (filtered by the category you pick)
- Valid Until — the quote's expiry date
- Tax Rate (%) — defaults to your company's tax rate; override per quote
Materials Calculator (Pro). A built-in calculator can estimate materials and add them to your line items. AI-suggested items show a warning banner — review every quantity and cost before sending.
Line Items. Each row has a Type (Labor, Material, or Flat Fee), Description (required), Qty, Unit Cost, and — for Material rows — a Markup %. The line total, Subtotal, Tax, and Total calculate live. Use Add Item to add rows.
Notes — scope of work, terms, etc.
Every line needs a description and a unit cost greater than zero before you can save.
Status and quote number
New quotes are saved as Draft. A quote number is generated automatically. You'll land on the quote's detail page, where you can review, edit, and send it.
FAQ
Can I start from a template? Yes — pick a Template (optionally filter by Category first). It fills in labor and material lines for you to adjust.
How is tax applied? A single Tax Rate (%) applies to the whole quote. It defaults to your company tax rate.
What's the difference between Material and Labor lines? Material lines support a Markup %; labor and flat-fee lines are priced directly by quantity × unit cost.
Can I change the quote later? Yes — open it and click Edit. See "Sending a Quote" for delivery and "Converting a Quote to a Job" for next steps.
