AI Insights

AI Insights reviews your business each week and surfaces the 3–5 most useful things to know — anomalies, risks, and opportunities — right on your dashboard, so you don't have to go looking. Available on the Business plan.

Where it lives

Insights appear in the AI Insights section of your Owner Dashboard. They refresh on a regular schedule (and can be re-run); each finding is stored so it stays visible until you dismiss it.

What it looks at

The AI builds a weekly snapshot of your data and compares this week to last week, including:

  • Jobs completed this week vs. last week
  • Revenue this week vs. last week
  • Open (sent) quotes and their total value
  • Overdue invoices — count and dollar value
  • Customers with no contact in the last 60 days

It only flags changes that are meaningful — a swing of more than ~15% week over week, or an absolute threshold like "more than 5 overdue invoices."

What a finding contains

Each insight is short and specific:

  • A title in plain English ("Revenue dropped 18% vs last week")
  • A one- to three-sentence body with the data point and a recommended action
  • A severity — info, warning, or alert
  • Sometimes a link straight to the relevant dashboard page

If everything looks healthy, you'll see a single "All systems steady" note instead of manufactured problems.

Acting on insights

  • Follow the link on a finding (when present) to jump to the page where you can act — overdue invoices, open quotes, and so on.
  • Dismiss a finding once you've handled it or decided it's not worth acting on; it won't keep cluttering the feed.

What it can't do

  • It only reasons over your HandyBook data — not your gut, your phone calls, or anything outside the app.
  • It suggests; it never acts on your behalf. Use CRM / Drip and Pipeline automation for actions you want to fire automatically.
  • It doesn't predict the future — treat findings as prompts to look closer, not certainties.

What it costs

Generating insights draws from your account's shared monthly AI budget (a $20 real-cost cap pooled across your org). If the budget is exhausted, the next scheduled run is skipped until the budget resets or you buy a credit pack. See the AI usage & budget article.

FAQ

Is this on every plan? No — AI Insights is a Business-tier feature.

Why didn't anything new appear? If nothing crossed a meaningful threshold, you'll see "All systems steady." The same finding won't be re-posted within a 24-hour window, so re-running won't create duplicates.

Does the AI share my data? Insights run on your business data only; it's never used to train external models or shared with other accounts.
