Connecting Stripe (Onboarding)
Connecting Stripe lets customers pay your invoices online by card. HandyBook uses Stripe Connect (an Express account), so the money goes straight to your own Stripe account and bank.
What you'll need
Stripe is a regulated financial service, so onboarding asks for:
- Your business name and address
- Business/tax number for your country
- Bank account details for payouts
- Owner identity details (ID, date of birth, and the verification Stripe requires)
Your data is held by Stripe, not HandyBook.
How to connect
- Go to Settings → Payment Processing
- Click Connect Stripe
- Complete Stripe's secure onboarding in the new tab
- You're returned to Settings; the section shows a green Connected badge once onboarding is done
Only an owner or admin can connect (or disconnect) payments.
Once connected
Your sent invoices show a Pay Now button on the hosted invoice page, and you can use Copy Pay Link on an invoice to share the secure pay link directly. Card payments go through Stripe Checkout.
Fees
When a customer pays through the Stripe link, Stripe's standard processing fee (2.9% + 30¢) is deducted from your payout, plus a 0.5% HandyBook platform fee. The rest goes to your connected Stripe account. (See "Processing Fees Explained.")
Disconnecting
In Settings → Payment Processing, click Disconnect. You can't take new online payments until you reconnect.

Who can connect Stripe? Only an owner or admin on your account.
Where do payouts go? To the bank account on your Stripe account. Manage payouts and bank details in your Stripe Dashboard.
Can I take payments without Stripe? You can still record offline payments (cash, check, transfer) on each invoice; online Pay Now requires Stripe.
