Tracking Time on a Job
Tracking hours makes time-and-materials invoicing accurate and shows where labor really goes. You can track time from a job's Time tab or from the standalone Time Tracking screen.
On a job (Time tab)
Open the job and click the Time tab. You'll see three sections:
Active timers — any running timers for this job, each with a live elapsed count and a Stop button.
Start a timer
- Pick the Employee (defaults to you)
- Optionally add Notes ("what's being worked on")
- Click Start timer
Add hours manually — expand this to log time after the fact: pick the Employee, Date, Hours, and notes, then save.
The job header's Actual card shows total hours logged.
On the Time Tracking screen
The sidebar Time Tracking screen gives you:
- Clock in / Clock out against a selected job
- Add Manual Time Entry — Hours, Hourly Rate ($), Notes, and a Billable toggle
- Recent Time Entries — edit hours/notes/billable inline, or delete
Billable hours and invoicing
Mark entries Billable (default on) to include them when you invoice. When you create an invoice from a job, closed billable time entries are pulled in as a labor line using the quote's labor rate (or the entry's hourly rate), priced by the hours actually worked.
