Triggers — Enrolling Customers
A trigger is the event that enrolls a customer into a drip campaign. You set one trigger per campaign in the Trigger dropdown on the New Campaign page.
The five triggers
- Manual (enroll customers yourself) — nobody is auto-enrolled; you add customers by hand. Good for win-back and one-off pushes.
- When a job is completed — enrolls the customer the moment a job is marked complete. Ideal for review requests and maintenance reminders.
- When a quote is sent — enrolls when you send a quote. Ideal for follow-up nudges.
- When an invoice is paid — enrolls after payment clears. Ideal for thank-yous and referral asks.
- When a customer is added — enrolls every new customer. Ideal for a welcome sequence.
Timing after the trigger
The trigger only marks the moment of enrollment. Each step then has its own delay (minutes from the previous step), so you control exactly when each message lands. A first step with a 1440-minute delay sends one day after the trigger fires.
Only active campaigns enroll
A campaign enrolls customers only while its status is Active. Draft and Paused campaigns don't enroll anyone, even if the trigger event happens.
Manual enrollment
For the Manual trigger (and to seed existing customers into any campaign), enroll people yourself rather than waiting for an event.
FAQ
Can one campaign have several triggers? No — each campaign has a single trigger. Build separate campaigns for separate triggers.
Will activating a campaign enroll past events? No. Triggers fire for events that happen after the campaign is Active. To reach existing customers, use the Manual trigger.
Can I trigger on a quote being declined or an invoice going overdue? Not currently — the supported triggers are job completed, quote sent, invoice paid, customer added, and manual.
