Building a Drip Sequence

This walks through building a campaign from scratch at CRM → Drip Campaigns → New Campaign.

Step 1 — Start from a template (optional)

At the top of the New Campaign page is a Start from a template panel. Click any template to pre-fill the name, description, trigger, and steps — then edit. Or skip it and build manually.

Step 2 — Campaign details

  • Name (required) — e.g. "Post-Job Review Request"
  • Description — what it does and who it's for
  • Trigger — when customers get enrolled:
    • Manual (enroll customers yourself)
    • When a job is completed
    • When a quote is sent
    • When an invoice is paid
    • When a customer is added

Step 3 — Build the sequence

Each campaign is a list of steps. The first step ships with the campaign; use Add Step for more. Per step:

  • Delay (minutes from previous) — how long after the previous step (the page shows the equivalent in days). 1440 = 1 day.
  • Channel — Email or SMS
  • Subject (email only)
  • Body — the message, with merge tags

Reorder steps with the up/down arrows; remove one with the trash icon (you must keep at least one).

Step 4 — Personalize with merge tags

Above the body, click a tag chip to insert it:

{{customer.first_name}} · {{customer.name}} · {{customer.email}} · {{org.name}} · {{review_url}}

SMS steps show a live character count — keep them short.

Step 5 — Save and activate

Click Save Campaign. It's created as a Draft. From the campaigns list, click Activate to start enrolling customers; Pause stops new sends.

Best practices

  • One clear goal per campaign
  • One call to action per message
  • Subject lines short — they clip on mobile
  • Space steps out (a day or more) so you're not flooding anyone

Branching (advanced)

Beyond a straight sequence, the visual flow view supports conditions (opened/clicked/replied), waits, A/B splits, and goals. See A/B Testing Drip Messages.

FAQ

Where do I edit an existing campaign? Open it from the Drip Campaigns list.

Why isn't my campaign sending? Only Active campaigns send. Check the status badge and click Activate.

Do drafts send? No. Draft and Paused campaigns never send.
