Working Your Prospect Portfolio

The HandyBook team does the legwork of finding businesses for you to reach out to. Your Prospect portfolio is a built-in mini-CRM of local handyman and trades businesses near you — curated by the HandyBook team — that you can track, take notes on, and email, all from one screen.

Open it at Dashboard → Affiliate → Prospect portfolio → (the link is in the top-right of your affiliate dashboard).

Where the list comes from

You don't build this list yourself. The HandyBook team generates it for you — they search for nearby trades businesses (centered on the ZIP code on your account) and load the results into your portfolio. If your list is empty, you'll see a note that the team is putting one together — check back soon.

If you ever see "Prospect discovery isn't set up yet," the backend isn't fully provisioned in your environment yet; it'll populate once it's live.

Each prospect card

Every business shows:

  • Business name
  • Location (address, city, state)
  • Phone (tap to call) and Website (opens in a new tab)
  • Primary services as small tags
  • A status dropdown and a notes field

The status pipeline

Use the status dropdown on each card to move a prospect through your sales pipeline:

  1. new — fresh, not yet contacted
  2. contacted — you've reached out
  3. interested — they're warm
  4. won — they signed up (nice work)
  5. lost — not a fit / not interested

Changing the status saves instantly, and each status is color-coded so you can scan your whole list at a glance.

Notes

Each card has a notes field at the bottom. Jot down anything useful — who you spoke with, when to follow up, what they're using now. Notes save automatically when you click away from the field.

Emailing a prospect

If a prospect has an email on file, an Email button appears on their card. Click it to open a compose box right inside the card:

  1. Type a Subject and a message body.
  2. Click Send.

Emails go out from your own name@handymanbook.app address, and replies land back with you. A CAN-SPAM footer and unsubscribe link are added automatically to keep your outreach compliant. If a contact has previously unsubscribed, sending is blocked and you'll be told.

FAQ

Can I add my own prospects? The portfolio is curated by the HandyBook team. If there's a business you want added, mention it to partners@handymanbook.app — and remember you can always share your referral link with anyone, prospect-list or not.

Why doesn't a prospect have an Email button? The Email button only appears when we have an email address for that business. You can still call them or visit their website.

Are my emails really sent from my own address? Yes — they send from your name@handymanbook.app address and replies come straight back to you, so the conversation stays yours.

Does changing a status notify anyone? No. Statuses and notes are your private workspace for tracking outreach.
