Signing Your Agreement & Onboarding Checklist

After you set your password, the onboarding flow at Dashboard → Affiliate → Onboarding guides you through four steps. The first — signing your agreement — unlocks your dashboard. The rest can be finished any time, but all four must be done before you receive a payout.

The four checklist items:

  1. Sign your partnership agreement
  2. Add your contact information
  3. Submit your W-9 tax form
  4. Confirm how you get paid

A progress banner on your dashboard shows how many you've completed.

Step 1 — Sign your partnership agreement

This is a guided three-step screen with a progress indicator at the top: Electronic consent → Review agreement → Sign.

  1. Electronic consent. Read the E-SIGN / UETA consent disclosure, then check the box: "I consent to use electronic records and electronic signatures, and I agree my electronic signature is legally binding." Click I consent and continue. Your consent is recorded with a timestamp. The agreement stays hidden until you consent.
  2. Review agreement. The full agreement appears in a scrollable panel. You must scroll to the end before the Continue to sign button activates. Take your time — it covers your commission rate, the override rules, payment timing, tax reporting, and governing law (Michigan; the company is J&H Technology).
  3. Sign. Enter your full legal name and the date, then draw or type your signature in the signature pad. Check the affirmation box, then click Sign and submit.

The instant it's signed, your free Business plan activates and you're shown the optional sample-data card (see Your Free Business Plan & Sample Data).

To view your signed agreement later, go to Dashboard → Affiliate and click My agreement, or use the View agreement link on the checklist.

Step 2 — Add your contact information

Go to the Add your contact information step. Enter your first and last name, phone, and full mailing address (street, optional line 2, city, 2-letter state, and ZIP). This address is what we use for tax forms and for mailing your commission checks, so make sure it's correct. All fields except address line 2 are required.

Step 3 — Submit your W-9 tax form

Go to the Submit your W-9 tax form step. The real IRS Form W-9 loads right in your browser — fill it in on the form itself (no separate upload). Add your signature and date, consent to sign electronically if you haven't already, and submit.

Privacy note: your completed W-9 is sealed and emailed to the HandyBook operator — the PDF and your TIN are never stored in the app. A W-9 (or W-8BEN for non-U.S. persons) is required before any commission can be paid. See Getting Paid & Taxes for the 1099 details.

Step 4 — Confirm how you get paid

Go to the Confirm how you get paid step. Commissions are paid by check, mailed to your address on file. The screen shows the address checks will go to (pulled from Step 2). If you need to fix it, click Edit address. When it's right, click Confirm pay by check.

You can't confirm payout until a mailing address is on file, so do Step 2 first.

FAQ

Why can't I click "Continue to sign"? You have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the agreement first. That's how we confirm you've seen the whole thing.

Can I skip the W-9 for now? You can finish signing and explore the app, but we can't send you a payout until a valid W-9 is on file. Backup withholding may also apply if it's missing.

Where's my signed agreement stored? You can re-open it any time from Dashboard → Affiliate → My agreement. It's tamper-evident — the exact text you signed is hashed and saved.

The W-9 says it's emailed, not stored — why? For your security. Your tax ID is sensitive, so the filled form goes straight to the operator by email and is never kept in the app's database.
