Your Free Business Plan & Sample Data
One of the best parts of being a HandyBook affiliate: the moment you sign your partnership agreement, you get a free Business plan — the top tier, with full access to every feature. You can't sell HandyBook well if you don't know it inside and out, so we make sure you can.
Your free Business plan
As soon as your agreement is signed, your account is upgraded to Business at no cost. You get the complete app — customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, payments, reporting, team seats, and everything else — exactly as a paying Business customer would.
A couple of things to know:
- It's a comped (non-paid) subscription — there's no card on file and nothing to cancel.
- It will never override a real paid subscription. If you were already a paying customer, you keep what you have.
- If your affiliate account is ever disabled, the comped plan can be removed (your real paid plan, if any, is untouched).
After signing you'll see a confirmation: "Your partnership agreement is signed and your free Business plan is active."
Load sample data (optional)
Right after signing, the Explore with sample data card appears. Click Load sample data and HandyBook clones a fully-populated demo account into your own account so you can see the product in action — without having to build everything from scratch.
What gets loaded:
- Sample customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, payments, expenses, and materials
- A sample team (demo employees) with their job assignments and time entries
When it's done you'll see how many records were imported and a Go to your dashboard button.
Prefer a clean slate? Click Skip for now — you can always load sample data later from the same card. Loading it again just adds to whatever's already there; it doesn't replace your data.
A few things are deliberately not copied for safety: integration logins (like Google or QuickBooks), encrypted secure notes (such as real gate codes), and global accounting codes.
FAQ
Will sample data clutter my real account? It's added to your account, so yes — it lives alongside anything you create. Many affiliates load it, explore, then delete the demo records once they're comfortable. You can also skip it entirely.
Can I load the sample data more than once? Yes. Each import adds another set of demo records. If you run it twice you'll have two copies.
Is the free Business plan really free forever? It's free for as long as you're an active affiliate. There's no charge and no card on file.
I signed but I'm still on a lower tier — what happened? If you already had a paid subscription, the comp won't downgrade or override it. If you had no paid plan and still don't see Business, contact partners@handymanbook.app.
