Inviting a Sub-Affiliate (the 10% Override)

You can grow your earnings by inviting other businesses to become HandyBook affiliates. When someone you invite refers a paying customer, you earn a 10% override on that customer — on top of the invited affiliate's own commission. It's extra income for expanding the network.

The Invite an affiliate card is on your Dashboard → Affiliate page.

How the split works

  • The affiliate you invite earns 20% of the subscription revenue from every customer they convert, for the lifetime of those subscriptions.
  • You earn a 10% override on those same customers — paid on top of their 20%, not carved out of it. The customer's plan is the base for both percentages.

This override is single-tier (one hop): it applies only to affiliates you directly invite. It does not extend to anyone those affiliates go on to invite themselves.

Example: you invite Jordan. Jordan refers a customer paying $90/month. Jordan earns 20% ($18/month). You earn a 10% override ($9/month) on that same customer — for as long as they stay subscribed.

How to invite someone

  1. Make sure your own affiliate account is active (you'll see a notice if it isn't — your account must be active before you can invite others).
  2. On the Invite an affiliate card, enter their name and their email.
  3. Click Send invite.

They'll get their own invite to set up an account and sign the same partnership agreement you did. Once confirmed, you'll see a starter referral code generated for them.

Tracking your sub-affiliates

After you've invited people, the same card shows a table of affiliates you invited with:

  • Their name
  • Their status (invited, active, etc.)
  • How many customers they've brought in
  • Your override / mo for each

A running Your override / mo total appears at the top of the card so you can see your extra monthly earnings at a glance.

FAQ

Can I invite as many affiliates as I want? Yes, as long as your account is active. Each one you invite earns you a 10% override on their referred customers.

Do I earn override on affiliates my invitees recruit? No. The override is one hop only — it applies to affiliates you personally invite, not to their invitees.

Does my override reduce what the sub-affiliate earns? No. Their 20% and your 10% are independent slices of the customer's subscription. They keep their full 20%.

Why can't I see the invite form? Your affiliate account must be active first. If you just onboarded, finish your checklist; if it still shows as inactive, contact partners@handymanbook.app.
