Kanban Pipeline Basics

The Pipeline (CRM → Pipeline) is a visual sales board: a column per stage, a card per customer. Drag cards across columns as deals progress. It's the fastest way to see your whole funnel at once. Pipeline is a Business-plan feature.

HandyBook's pipeline tracks customers, not individual jobs — one card per customer.

What's on the board

  • Columns — your stages (New Lead, Contacted, Quoted, Won, Lost — or whatever you set), each with a colored top border
  • Cards — one per customer, showing their name, email, and lifetime value (when set)
  • Stage header — the stage name, a count of customers in it, a trophy for a won stage or X for a lost stage, and a trash icon to delete the stage
  • Total value — the sum of customer lifetime value, shown at the bottom of a stage when it's above zero
  • Unassigned — a dashed column for customers not yet on any stage

Moving customers

  • Drag a card to another column to move that customer to a new stage — it saves immediately
  • Click a card to open that customer's record

If a save fails, the card snaps back and you'll see an error.

Adding and removing stages

  • Add Stage (top right) → type a name → Add
  • Trash icon on a stage header → confirm → its customers move to Unassigned

See Custom Pipeline Stages.

FAQ

Why is the board empty or locked? Pipeline requires the Business plan. On lower plans you'll see an upgrade prompt. If you're on Business and see "No stages yet," add your first stage.

Does moving a card change the customer's Status? No. Status (New, Active, VIP…) and pipeline stage are independent.

Can my team use the same board? Yes — the pipeline is shared across your organization.

How do I get customers onto the board? New customers start in Unassigned; drag them onto a stage to begin tracking them.
