Customer Pipeline Stages

Customer Pipeline Stages

The Pipeline is a kanban board that tracks each customer through your sales steps — from new lead to won (or lost). It lives at CRM → Pipeline and is a Business-plan feature.

Note: HandyBook tracks pipeline at the customer level, not per job. Each card is a customer.

How it works

  • Columns are your stages; each card is a customer
  • Drag a card between columns to move that customer to a new stage
  • Customers with no stage yet sit in an Unassigned column
  • Each stage shows its customer count and, where set, Total value (sum of lifetime value)
  • A Trophy marks your "won" stage; an X marks "lost"

Click any card to jump to that customer's record.

Default stages

When your account is created, a starter set of stages is seeded (for example: New Lead → Contacted → Quoted → Won → Lost). You can change them freely.

Customizing stages

Right on the Pipeline page:

  • Add Stage — click the button, type a name, Add
  • Delete a stage — click the trash icon on the stage header. Customers in it become Unassigned (they aren't deleted)

There's no separate Settings screen — you manage stages directly on the board.

Status vs. stage

A customer's Status (New, Active, VIP, Inactive, Overdue) is a fixed label set on their record. Their pipeline stage is where they sit on the board. They're independent — see Customer Status.

FAQ

Why is the Pipeline empty / locked? The board requires the Business plan. On lower plans you'll see an upgrade prompt.

Does moving a card change anything else? It updates the customer's pipeline stage only. It doesn't change their Status or create a job.
