Adding & Managing Locations
If you operate in multiple physical locations — different cities, different service areas, different brands under one parent — multi-location lets you keep everything in one HandyBook account while tracking each location separately.
Available on Business tier
Multi-location is a Business tier feature. Upgrade if you need it (see Billing & Plans).
What a "location" is
A location can represent:
- A physical office or shop
- A geographic service area (e.g. "Sacramento", "Bay Area")
- A separate brand or franchise unit under your business
Each location stores:
- Name (required)
- Address, City, State, Zip
- Phone
- A Color chip (eight presets) so you can tell locations apart at a glance
One location is marked Default — new jobs and invoices use it unless you pick another.
Adding a location
- In the sidebar, open Operations → Locations (or go to
/dashboard/settings/locations). The header reads Locations. - Click Add location (top-right). On an empty account you can also use Create your first location or Use sample template.
- Fill in Name (required), then optional Address, City, State, Zip, Phone, and pick a Color.
- Click Save.
To change a location later, click Edit on its card. Click Make default to set it as the default, or the trash icon to delete it (jobs and invoices already tied to it are simply unlinked, not deleted).
Switching between locations
Once you have two or more locations, a location switcher appears in the header. Pick a location to scope your jobs, invoices, and reports to that branch, or view everything together.
Per-location P&L
The point of multi-location is seeing which branches make money. See Per-location P&L for how the Project P&L and reports break down by location.
FAQ
Is each location separately billed? No — one HandyBook account on the Business tier covers any number of locations.
Why can't I see Locations? Multi-location is a Business-tier feature. Lower tiers see it in the sidebar with a Business badge — open it to preview and upgrade.
What happens when I delete a location? The location is removed and any jobs or invoices that referenced it are unlinked. The records themselves stay.
Can each location have its own logo or Stripe account? Not currently — branding and Stripe Connect are set once per account under Branding and Billing. A location stores its own address, phone, and color for labelling and reporting.
